The Cornell Feline Health Center (CFHC), established in 1974, held its first Cornell Feline Health Symposium in 1981, administered as part of Cornell Adult University programming. In 1989, the event evolved into the Feline Specialist Seminar and also included the American Association of Feline Practitioners. The symposium was geared toward veterinarians, with discussions on heart disease, liver disease, reproductive endocrinology, diabetes, skin disease, drug therapy, toxicology, infectious disease, dental disease, bronchial disease, and specialized diagnostic tests such as ultrasound.
In 1997, the symposium was renamed the Fred Scott Feline Symposium in honor of CFHC’s founding director, Fred Scott, DVM, PhD, upon his retirement. It has become a premier annual feline veterinary continuing education experience, with experts from around the world providing updates to practicing veterinarians on advances in feline health. CFHC’s heritage of offering the most reliable feline health information available includes the production of Cornell CatWatch. Gift memberships to the CFHC are available and include a subscription to Cornell CatWatch.
